The Streams of Baptiste - by Al Davis

Baptiste Lake receives it largest inflow of water from the York River, as it flows from Benoir and Elephant Lakes through the Ripple.
Other water from the surrounding area and passes it over the dam at High Falls into the York River. The Baptiste Lake Plan identifed about 40 other sources of water draining into Baptiste Lake.

In my effort to stock Walleye, I developed an interest in examining streams emptying into Baptiste to see if they had potential as walleye spawning spots. This large undertaking needs to be conducted in the late summer and fall when the flow from these streams is at a minimum. Streams that are purely spring run-off only have a flow in the spring and are not much of a potential as spawning spots.

This fall I have looked into streams that I am aware have a year round flow and have visited about 20, and 6 are documented here so far.

I would appreciate comments and locations of other streams you may be aware of, please email me at a_sdavis@sympatico.ca
